Salary: Base salary will be in the range $98,582.63 - $107,349.47 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 7)
About This Opportunity Join our team as a key coordinator in the Crop and Field Research Unit (CFRU), where you'll oversee trial activities on the Gatton campus and other research sites. Working closely with the CFRU Manager, you'll bring your expertise in technical and OH&S support to ensure the smooth and timely execution of field and crop research projects. In this dynamic role, you'll also manage bulk cropping operations, collaborating with Gatton Farm to produce quality fodder for campus livestock and commercial needs. Additionally, you'll play an essential role in maintaining top-tier facilities and equipment to support research, teaching, and commercial initiatives.
Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with the CFRU Manager to source and manage clients, enhancing CFRU's contributions to production and research.Oversee crop trial development, scheduling, and quality control, maintaining record-keeping and reporting systems for optimal results.Provide expert technical advice on field research techniques, compliance, data management, and trial execution.Coordinate with the Farm Manager on trial inputs and farm operations to support the trial and cropping programs.Manage facility resources, including booking, maintenance, and equipment upkeep essential for research.Supervise trial staff, including scheduling, timesheet monitoring, and overseeing day-to-day tasks.Lead safety and compliance efforts, including site inductions, risk management, and adherence to UQ's safety protocols.Foster a client-focused, results-driven culture that values improvement, innovation, and compliance with financial and procurement standards. Free parking and intercampus busOn campus childcare, medical clinic, and post office26 weeks paid parental leave or 14 weeks paid primary caregiver leave17% superannuation contributions17.5% annual leave loadingUQ Study for Staff25% discount on eligible UQ Vets servicesAccess to our $4.1 million UQ Sports facilityVolunteer in our community garden About You: Qualifications and training equivalent to a degree in Agricultural Science with at least four years subsequent experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.Demonstrated scientific and technical knowledge, technical experience and expertise in the areas of field-based crop research and agronomy.Demonstrated experience in negotiating and liaising with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.Skills and experience in one or more of the following, UAVs, crop analytics, precision ag and irrigation/fertigation viewed favourably.Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple priorities and competing tasks.Demonstrated ability to evaluate situations and make independent decisions including the interpretation of applicable policies and procedures.Demonstrated experience in the use of GPS controls such as Trimble or Greenstar (ideally both) and other computer application such as the Microsoft suite and cropping management programs such as Agworld in association with modern farm equipment such as GPS controlled planters, sprayers, and fertilizer spreaders.Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with clients by telephone, email and in person.Commitment to upholding the University's values, and with the outstanding personal qualities of openness, respectfulness and integrity.Demonstrated experience, knowledge, compliance and promotion of WHS.AgChem accreditation.Experience in the day-to-day management of a cropping team.
