The Transport Analysis Unit provides transport intelligence, data insight, and assurance services including transport modelling, data collection, data preparation, data analysis, data science, statistical consultancy, and survey design. The unit, with 35+ resources, provides objective forecasts and advice that informs policy, planning, and investment decisions that support transport projects and initiatives throughout Queensland.

Fortnightly salary: $4,466.90 - $4,779.30
Job duration: Until 17/01/25 with possibility of extension
In the role of Senior Transport Modeller, you will contribute to major transport modelling projects that will support evidence-based decision-making, driving positive transport outcomes for Queensland. You will use specialist traffic and transport modelling, data science, analytics, skills in combination with strong skills in mentoring, collaboration, and innovation as a senior officer in a team of technical experts.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Leading the development, maintenance, and application of traffic and transport models to meet stakeholder needs.
• Managing projects including developing procurement and contract documentation, assessing tenders, and supervising consultants and contractors.
• Generating and interpreting model results and providing expert advice on major strategic projects on behalf of TMR's Policy, Planning, and Investment Division.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Expertise in transport modelling, data science, transport planning, or other relevant field, with a strong focus on continuous learning and growth.
• Proficiency in using one or more of the following:
• Transport and Traffic modelling software (e.g., AIMSUN, VISSIM, SATURN, EMME, SIDRA)
• Geographic Information Systems (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS)
• Extract, transform, and load (ETL) software (e.g., Alteryx, KNIME, Jupyter Notebooks)
• Business intelligence (BI) / Visualisation software (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI)
• Programming languages (e.g., Python)
• Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
• Experience in executing projects that meet cost, time, and quality expectations.
• Skill in building and sustaining relationships for collaborative customer-focused results, utilising cooperation for optimal outcomes.
