Council is seeking a Senior Traffic Operations Engineer to join our Traffic and Transport team.
This position will be fundamental in managing and improving Local Area Traffic Management within our community, ensuring alignment with Council's Wagga Wagga Integrated Transport Strategy and Wagga Wagga Transport Plan.
Other key responsibilities will include: Investigate and recommend solutions for traffic, parking and road safety issues in a timely and professional manner.
Assess, manage and mitigate the transport impact of future developments and urban renewal projects to improve residential amenity, accessibility and safety.
Identify key infrastructure initiatives to support the promotion of active and sustainable forms of transport.
Communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders about traffic and transport related issues.
Develop, undertake and analyse traffic and parking surveys.
Develop and present (after Director approval) recommended traffic, parking, access and road safety solutions to relevant working groups, community forums, technical committees (Local Traffic Committee) and Council meetings.
Foster positive relationships with key external stakeholders including, but not limited to Transport for NSW (TfNSW) and the NSW Police.
Attend local community meetings as Council's representative on traffic and transport related matters during normal working hours or after hours as and when required.
Comply with and keep abreast of any relevant legislation applicable to the performance of the duties of this position.
Oversee traffic-related event applications and requests and liaise with and assist event organisers as required.
Investigate, respond to and process all aspects of NHVR applications as received.

What you will need to succeed: We are looking for experienced professionals with: Tertiary degree qualifications in Civil Engineering with majors in traffic engineering; Professional Engineer's Registration or eligibility to obtain registration; Road Safety Auditor; Class C Driver's Licence; and General Construction Induction Training Card.
