About the Division The Information Management and Technology Division (IMTD) guides the departments' digital capability and is leading digital transformation for the department including Victorian government schools.
The Division architects, manages and supports the largest technology network in Victoria, supporting a user base of approximately 750,000 staff and students.
IMTD provides innovation and leadership in the transformation and management of the department's digital capability through the implementation of solutions on the department's cloud environment (IaaS), enterprise cloud platforms (PaaS) and software (SaaS), using agile practices with a focus on user experience, security, and integration.
About the Role The purpose of the Senior Test Analyst position is to provide competent test management services in support of important and complex business applications projects, using industry accepted testing practice and techniques.
This includes:
Understanding the overall programme or project benefits and how the delivered solution impacts these; selects appropriate test approaches (e.g., risk-based) to ensure delivery of benefits is not compromised.Understanding and analyzing business and functional requirements and architectural specifications to establish test conditions, scenarios, and design test cases.Defining roles and responsibilities for the test team including specific responsibility for production of all test deliverables.Producing the overall test delivery plan defining the business and IT test deliverable milestones, test tasks, and activities.Developing, writing, documenting, and executing automation testing.Designing, writing, documenting, and executing test plans.Identifying defects in a timely manner, documenting defects utilizing test management tools, and following up on defect resolutions.Actively participating in Agile delivery processes including planning, delivering on sprint backlog, and attending stand-ups, showcases, and retrospectives.Participating and actively influencing technical discussions relating to software development.Supporting Test Management to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.Supporting Test Management to influence uniformity and standardization across the department.Performing other duties as directed.Ensuring that all test phases have appropriate entry/exit criteria and monitoring achievement of these criteria.Determining whether test phases will be automated and selecting and implementing appropriate test tools.Defining and implementing a well-structured approach to test defect management and incident reporting.Working across the Division to ensure the availability of appropriate test environments and data.Owning and resolving issues around the technical solution delivered into the business test environment.Monitoring and reporting the status and progress of each test phase to different stakeholders.Ensuring effective issue escalation to senior management where there is a significant threat to delivery.Defining the business solution acceptance criteria and obtaining sign-off against these prior to go-live.Capabilities The ideal candidate fosters collaboration, swiftly adapts to change, and demonstrates expertise in systems thinking to analyze trends, guide others, and drive innovation within the department.
Proficient in digital literacy, they integrate advanced capabilities into service delivery, manage stakeholders effectively, and communicate persuasively with a focus on continuous development, accountability, and innovation.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience The candidate should showcase expertise in developing testing documentation, including test strategy, plans, scripts, and results.
They should also demonstrate proficiency in designing and executing automation testing frameworks.
The candidate's experience should reflect the ability to use business requirements and functional specifications/technical designs to inform both manual and automated test strategy, plans, and scripts.
Tertiary qualifications or accreditation in a related discipline would be beneficial.
Demonstrated experience in the development of testing documentation (test strategy, test plans, test scripts, test results).Demonstrated experience in the design and execution of automation testing frameworks and execution.Demonstrated experience in using business requirements and functional specifications/technical designs to inform test strategy, test plans, and test scripts (manual and automated).Tertiary qualifications/accreditation in a related discipline would be advantageous.Further Information For more details regarding this position please see the attached position description.
