The Materials Characterisation Specialist will report to the Senior Microanalyst and will sit under the Research School of Physics, Material Physics Department.With no two days being the same, this role is integral to the delivery of analytical services within the OreAI Facility and micro-XCT team, in particular, the characterisation of rocks and other solid-state materials with a range of instruments and techniques (e.g., SEM, XRD, Raman, FTIR, XRF), tuning and calibration of apparatus as required, and sample preparation. A key aspect of the role is the interpretation of complex analytical data sets and the communication of results to a range of stakeholders.The PersonWe are looking for a qualified technician or researcher with several years of experience in the characterisation of solid-state materials with respect to their composition and structure, using a range of methods including SEM EDS analysis, SEM BSE and SE imaging, XRD, FTIR, Raman, and XRF.We are looking for a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to quickly develop productive, professional relationships with colleagues and clients.
