The essence of the role Sinch APAC, a rapidly growing global communications tech company headquartered in Melbourne, is seeking a motivated senior tax professional to oversee tax compliance across ANZ, Asia, and the UK. As the regional tax champion reporting to the Group Financial Controller APAC, you will collaborate closely with local external tax advisors, the FinOps APAC team (in Melbourne and Singapore), and Group Tax (in Stockholm) to drive initiatives. Additionally, you will provide essential tax advisory support for regional projects and Sinch-wide initiatives, including new product launches and the Finance Transformation program.
What do you do in the role? As an enthusiastic and motivated senior finance team member, you will handle corporate tax, indirect tax, transfer pricing, tax effect accounting, and international tax, while closely collaborating with Group Tax and senior leadership to drive our global tax strategy.
Manage corporate income taxes, indirect taxes/VAT/GST filings, FBT and withholding tax obligations within the region to ensure timely and accurate lodgements in adherence to local regulations. Prepare and manage all local quarterly tax effect accounting, reconciliations and reporting to Group according to requisite deadlines. Prepare and manage year end current and deferred tax calculations as part of local annual external audits. Support all transfer pricing requirements within the region in partnership with Group Transfer Pricing and local FinOps APAC team, including review and execution of local strategies and documentation across multiple jurisdictions. Own external tax advisor relationships with the aim of full compliance across region and effectively engage them as needed to arrive at low risk but commercially viable solutions. Contribute to key projects as the regional tax expert to meet both operational needs and overall tax strategy while limiting or addressing tax exposure. Provide expertise on ad-hoc international tax matters such as but not limited to cross border transactions. Identify and implement improvements across tax processes, including development and regional enactment of tax strategies in conjunction with Group Tax and senior leadership. Stay up to date with latest changes in APAC tax landscape, conduct research and support in tax reviews and tax audits as needed. What experience/qualities you need to bring with you CA or CPA qualified. 10+ years of corporate tax experience preferably from an enterprise environment or Big-4 background. In-depth knowledge of tax effect accounting and standards. Strong Australian tax (particularly SGEs) and international tax knowledge. Exposure to transfer pricing. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to drive projects, deliver results and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
