The purpose of the Senior Systems Engineer is to plan, deploy and maintain the on-premise and cloud-based IT infrastructure, related applications, and security of the systems, whilst aligning to the Wilson Values. The role will suit someone who can work autonomously and can demonstrate leadership and mentoring of other team members.
This will be an operational role and the duties will include ensuring services are operating according to agreed service levels as well as assisting with administrative, reporting, and financial functions of the department.
Key Accountabilities: Engaging in Incident, Request, Change, Problem, and other Service Management processes as appropriate. Installation, configuration, migrations and management of servers and applications. Effectively maintain the IT infrastructure for high availability and reliability including leveraging monitoring system. Ensuring cloud-based systems are maintained effectively and secured following best practices. Ensuring all IT systems are secure and recoverable; adhering to patch management and backup policy. Act as an escalation point, collaborate and mentor other team members when required. Maintaining and contributing towards the Knowledgebase and process library. Participate in on-call support roster. Assisting with project activities when required. Maintaining effective communications with customers and vendors. Identifying and raising improvement opportunities via the Infrastructure Team Lead including developing new systems or processes. Contribute to business cases and assist with proposals around procurement of new and replacement systems. Assist with administrative tasks such as review of invoices, arranging quotes for and managing renewals as well as participating in budgets. Manage relationships, service levels and jobs with vendors. Review and manage invoicing for services and products provided. Information and Cyber Security:
Assist, as directed by the information security lead, with securing the organisation's information from cyber risks through identifying, and responding to cyber risks by:

Engaging in cyber reviews of all new systems and solutions. Assisting in identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities. Ensuring the integrity and security of the environment. Qualifications and Experience: Required: Demonstrated experience working in both team-oriented and autonomous work environments. ITIL - Incident, Problem, Change, Release, Configuration management. Expert knowledge in supporting and maintaining Windows server-based environments. Expert level with Active Directory - On-Premises and Azure including MFA. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft 365 and cloud solutions including Azure. MS Exchange Online - Maintaining Exchange online platform using PowerShell, GUI and Web tools. Excellent VMware knowledge - BaU operations and upgrades of vSphere. Backup Infrastructure - including Veeam and tape. IT Infrastructure hardware troubleshooting and repair. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to review or build processes including administrative such as invoicing, system change proposals and business cases. Be fit and able to install network or server equipment into data centres and office locations as required. 3+ Years in a System Engineer role. Desired: Experience in VMware Horizon/View or other VDI platforms including image management. InTune management of Mobile phones and tablet configuration. Comfortable troubleshooting SSL certificates and handling renewals. SCCM - Application packaging, Software deployment, windows patching, SOE development. Experience with Zabbix monitoring solution. SQL experience. Linux Operating System experience including patching. Experience working with hyper-converged Server/SAN technologies. Technical document writing. Qualifications: Required: Relevant Microsoft Certifications - MCSA, MCSE. Valid driver's license and own vehicle for travel to other offices & locations as required. Desired: A+/Network + certifications. ITIL v3 Foundation. VMWare Certification. #J-18808-Ljbffr
