Your new role
Within this challenging and rewarding position, you will be responsible for: Maintaining the server environment i.e.
Linux/Windows and keeping it running efficiently and effectively, including developing and planning server implementations and changes to support all business systems and applications.
Monitoring all IT Infrastructure resources for availability and performance and responding to events Proactively monitoring system capacity and forecast activities to address Institute requirements, so system capacity is never exceeded.
Develops solutions, performs enhancements, proactively monitors, supports and is responsible for a range of technologies and services including AD, GPOs, Entra ID, policies and Modern Auth, DNS, DHCP, certificate authority management, Email filtering, DNS security and Endpoint security products, Azure cloud admin, Storage Management - NAS, SAN, Virtual/Physical servers, Backup systems - Commvault, Rubrik, VDI VMware Horizon, VMware virtual platform, Firewalls and Load balancers.
Maintains documentation of the infrastructure and recommends improvements to IT management.
Ensures systems are kept up to date with security patches and updates, anti-virus and other malicious software tools and controls user access permissions to IT Infrastructure resource.
Provides support for essential core applications such as Exchange/M365, ITSM, SolarWinds, and other tools used in the environment.
Communicates effectively with various levels of staff and students, including being able to readily adapt language to suit non-technical or technical discussions as appropriate.
What you'll need to succeed
Proven experience with monitoring and maintaining IT Infrastructure.
Strong security and networking experience.
Knowledge and experience with: Windows / Linux Servers, Active Directory (Azure / on-prem), Office 365, Exchange (Online / on-prem), Azure / AWS cloud, Storage, VMware, Backups (Commvault or Rubrik preferred).
A tertiary education in Information Technology as well as Azure or AWS certifications are beneficial.
Previous experience working in the Education sector is advantageous.
