What you'll be doing We are looking for a Senior Systems Administrator who will be responsible for maintaining our clients Data Centre Infrastructure and managing highly available, documented infrastructure and ensuring successful delivery of agreed KPIs.
This position is required to work closely with the Service Delivery Manager to assist in the engagement and analysis of client requirements in order to develop proposal and tender documentation, assess new tools and technologies to enhance the future technical direction and maintain the infrastructure according to sla's.
Responsibilities:
• Create, develop and maintain operational documentation pertinent to AMS or Customer infrastructure, internal processes and procedures • Continually work to identify and remove single points of failure, performance issues, risks and downtime in the production infrastructure.
• Assist in developing a monthly report outlining key activities, initiatives, issues, risks which will be reported to the Customer
• Triage and resolve incidents. Service requests and Changes.
• Assume technical ownership of allocated technologies and infrastructure within the Customer. This includes servers, storage, backups, network and applications required for the user community to deliver the business.
• Develop and maintain the patching and maintenance policy for infrastructure and either directly, or through the support teams, implement this policy.
Technical skills
• Strong Storage experience across Pure, Netapp and Dell solutions. • Strong Data Centre networking experience and understanding
• VMware experience and troubleshooting
• Experience in datacenter migrations and relocations
Leadership skills
• Provide specialist technical advice and support to other AMS team members as required and act as a point of escalation for key technical issues;
• Assess new technologies and contribute to the ongoing technical direction of the organisation;
Project support and transitions:
• Assist in the transition of IT solutions from Delivery through to Operations, providing support and direction to both teams. • Be involved in onboarding new managed services customers, including
o Liaising with projects team on all matters relating to onboarding
o Quality assurance checking documentation for handover
o Advising on process and technical designs where required
