About The Company
Our client is a consulting engineering business that specialises in designing timber structures and bridges. More specifically, they undertake new construction and historic restoration design work implementing modern methods and through their quality programs, validating designs and recommended construction methods through physical testing and structural health monitoring projects.
Their inquisitive nature sees them ideally placed to lead industry-defining field research and proof engineers. Over the past 10 years, they have worked closely with a construction company that restores, upgrades, and replaces timber bridges and structures, providing designs for D&C projects as well as performing bridge inspections and delivering associated reports. With offices in the USA and Canada, their engineers have often worked on overseas projects to complement the workloads from those offices.
About The Opportunity
Some of your responsibilities will include:
Analysis and design of bridges and other structures, including new design, load ratings, and rehabilitation/retrofit of existing structures.
Ability to prepare concise and organized engineering calculations and analysis.
Prepare high-quality proposals, studies, and technical reports as well as assist with or prepare tender documents and submissions when required.
Project management and engineering review of design drawings, design reports, project safety in design (SiD), and scope of works (SoW) reports.
Monitor and supervise project design execution and progress, staff resources, schedule, scope, and budgets regarding business operations.
Provide direction, guidance, and coaching to junior and intermediate designers and technical support staff in their efforts to complete technical tasks.
Provide structural engineering support during construction, attend site meetings, and carry out field reviews, conduct site visits, and inspections.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
At least 10 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering.
Registered as a Professional Engineer in Australia.
Diploma of Leadership, Management, and/or Business Administration.
Demonstrated knowledge of Australian timber code and bridge codes.
Strong computer skills including MS Office and Excel.
Ability to effectively communicate both written and orally.
Ability to consistently meet deadlines and handle competing requests.
