About the job Van der Meer Consulting is a multi-disciplinary Structural and Civil engineering consultancy with offices in Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Newcastle, and Sydney. Our rapidly expanding company is currently seeking a suitably qualified Senior Structural Engineer to join our Canberra office.
Education and Experience:
The successful candidate will have the following:
Minimum Bachelor of Engineering, in Civil/ Structural Minimum 7 years' structural engineering experience gained within a consultancy environment preferred. Demonstrated experience in the design of projects in the residential, commercial, retail and industrial sectors. Skills and Personal Attributes:
Sound knowledge and application of Australian Standard design codes, relevant design techniques and construction procedures and techniques. Experience in the use of software such as RC Buildings, Microstran or Spacegass, Ram Concept, Rapt, Slabs, PT 3D, Etabs and Microsoft Office. Must have excellent presentation and communication skills as these are essential for client liaison. Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate and work with draftsmen, engineers, architects and design managers. Ability to undertake some Business Development activities such as increasing client base and retaining current clients. Have direct dealing with clients, government bodies and contractors/ builders. Proven track record of working to tight deadlines and within budget. Critically review design drawings and documentation. Be enthusiastic and committed to facilitating client needs. Must demonstrate initiative and be a team player. Class C driver's licence. Rewards:
