The role will work collaboratively across the transport portfolio, other government departments and agencies (e.g., the Victorian Planning Authority) and local government to ensure best practice integrated land use and transport planning in Melbourne.Key ResponsibilitiesEngage with key industries, portfolio agencies, government agencies, local government, local communities, and transport stakeholders to ensure successful integrated transport planning.Formulate the Department's position, including in formal written submissions, and represent this in meetings with councils, planning authorities, developers, and landowners.Consider input from internal subject matter experts for strategic sites including intermodal freight terminals, airports, ports, and priority precincts.Provide direction post-approval of planning amendments, documenting outcomes and issues for Master Planning and Statutory Planning processes.Support the review of completed and future Precinct Structure Plans and Activity Centre Plans, addressing transport gaps and funding applications.Build relationships and negotiate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure transport and land use plans reflect the Department's vision.Guide and mentor less experienced team members.Key Selection CriteriaThe successful candidate will have strong strategic planning skills, capable of thinking at a system-wide level and guiding others through the planning process.
