Rockhampton Hospital is the main Hospital for Central Queensland and the Capricorn Coast. The local catchment area is approximately 200,000 with a greater population involving the central and far west of the health service. The Emergency Department has specialist support from General Medicine, Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Palliative Care, Psychiatry, Ophthalmology, Haematology, Oncology, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Intensive Care and Anaesthetics.
About the role:
Departmental support of non-clinical time to establish a GEDI service is paramount.
The ED Senior Medical Officer (SMO) adopts the role of the GERI Team Champion and therefore needs to have clinical expertise, the capacity to inspire and empower the specialist GERI Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) and Clinical Nurses (CN) and drive the change process with ED management.
About you: Mandatory qualifications:
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA) e.g. Fellowship of Royal Australian College of General Practice (FRACGP) or Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural & Remote Medicine (FACRRM).
- Fellows of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM) will need appropriate geriatric or general practice experience for being credentialed in this role.
- Applicants who have completed or will soon complete their fellowship examination and expect to meet the essential requirements of this position are also encouraged to apply.
- Enrolment and maintenance of ongoing CME program with the appropriate bodies is mandatory.
What we offer: Salary information:
Total remuneration value of up to $150,900 p.a. is comprised of:
- A salary rate between $45,526 - $46,950 p.a. (L13-L14)
- A salary rate between $45,526 - $52,583 p.a. (L13-L18)
- A salary rate between $52,583 - $61,078 p.a. (L18-L24)
- A salary rate between $52,583 - $62,882 p.a. (L18-L25)
- A salary rate between $62,882 - $66,669 p.a. (L25-L27)
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
