Townsville University Hospital, located adjacent to one of Queensland's leading tertiary institutions, James Cook University, is the largest tertiary hospital in northern Australia, providing specialist referral services for 700,000 people living from Mackay, to the Torres Strait, to the Northern Territory border.

Our purpose is `great care every day'. About your opportunity: The Townsville Hospital & Health Service is seeking interest from a suitably qualified applicant for a vacancy in Maxillofacial Surgery. The Maxillofacial team works closely with the Plastics department and the ENT department.
Townsville University Hospital is a tertiary referral hospital in Far North Queensland. The Hospital has 700+ beds and has a strong collaborative relationship with the James Cook University.
The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:  Knowledge of current medical practices and issues, and evidence of an appropriate level of expertise in the skills of the discipline.Demonstrated ability to review, analyse and evaluate patient care for the identification of appropriate treatment and investigations.Ability to maintain accurate and complete medical records – clinical, administrative and statistical.Well-developed communication skills (written, oral and interpersonal skills) with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff and hospital clients from a variety of backgrounds.A personal commitment to the maintenance of high standards in the clinical care to patients and proven ability to react promptly to emergency or urgent situations impacting upon patient care.Ability to practice medicine in a cross cultural environment.Build relationships with patients and members of the multidisciplinary team, using strong communications skills and negotiation skills to understand needs and to deliver a service that meets their needs and policy guidelines. What's on offer? Generous remuneration package value up to $522,648 p.a. comprising:Salary range of $7827.20 to $9924.00 p.f. (L18 - L27)4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.Attraction and retention incentive allowance (50% base salary)Motor vehicle allowance between $21,000 and $25,500 p.a.Professional development allowance of $21,500 p.a. + 3.6 weeks p.a. leaveOther employment benefits may include: professional development, salary sacrificing options , shift and locality allowances, employee wellness and assistance programs, and access to corporate discounts. Candidate Requirements: Proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.All applicants must be awarded SoCP by the THHS Credentialing and SoCP committee. All appointments are subject to maintenance of SoCP within the CSCF for the facilities in which clinical work is to be undertaken. Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and FRACDS (OMS) or equivalent - Registration with AHPRA and Dental Board of Australia as a Specialist Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon or working towards this qualification and able to be credentialled as a SMO.MBBS or equivalent, registrable with AHPRA.This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.Probation period may apply.Pre-employment checks will be conducted.Please refer to the Role Description for further details.
