You will be based at the main referral centre within the North West Hospital and Health Service. Patients from other facilities across the north west region who require specialist treatment and care are referred to either the hospital or to other major hospitals within Queensland. This is a great opportunity to develop areas of clinical interest to you within anaesthesia (including obstetrics and regional), ICU, perioperative medicine, pain management, medical education and wellbeing. Alongside providing training to anaesthetic trainees and other health professionals and ensure continued evidence-based practice. The health service is responsible for the public sector health services in the North West region. Covering an area of approximately 300,000 square kilometres and services many of the remote communities within North Western Queensland and the Gulf of Carpentaria. Currently all anaesthetic services are provided at Mt Isa Hospital. Outreach services are a potential growth item in our outlying hospitals. Current registration with or/eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia  Skills in epidurals for delivery suite and anaesthesia for obstetrics.  The successful applicant will be appointed between classifications Level 18 to Level 27 in accordance with Annexure B – Classification Structure. This position requires the incumbent to operate a "C" class vehicle, and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided before commencement of duty.  The position may require travel by commercial or charter plane and/or vehicle to other Hospital/s and/or Health Centre/s dependent on travel requirements. To assist the surgeons and physicians in the practice with new and follow up patients by providing additional information and psychological support 2. New patient triage and ensuring all necessary results relevant to the consultation are present 3. Review and triage of incoming results 4. Answer enquiries from new and existing patients about clinical care and psychological concerns via phone or email 5. Cancer genetics assessment, counselling, and testing. (Cancer risk assessment for those who may be at elevated risk for breast cancer development- ongoing follow up or management of women at high-risk for breast cancer) 6. Post operative wound care and assessment of complications 7. Assist in ordering and interpreting imaging 8. Provide cancer survivorship assessments and plan 9. Generate referrals to other specialities based on the assessment of the multidisciplinary team and clinical need 10. Coordinate with hospital breast care nurses, preadmission clinic and other staff as appropriate, regarding pre and post operative patient issues Qualification & Experience Minimum 5 years experience as a nurse practitioner in the breast cancer field Proven experience in providing medical oncology and surgical oncology care to breast cancer patients.
