About the Role

The Senior Spatial Data Analyst will play a key role in the Government Land Policy and Advice branch of the Land and Property Division–Planning and Land Services. This branch provides trusted, impartial, expert advice to government and landholding agencies. The position will lead and contribute to key policy, strategy, analytic and reform projects and priorities to improve the delivery of public value from the State Government's $300 billion land portfolio. The Senior Spatial Data Analyst role within the Government Land Analytics and Mapping team will provide data and spatial solutions on government strategic investigations and projects focused on government land's contribution towards core policy areas, such as social and affordable housing, and in priority places and precincts.
Position Outcomes Analyse and develop fit-for-purpose data using specialist spatial tools (FME /ArcGIS) to support the delivery of government land assessments and reports.Undertake complex analysis using spatial and aspatial data from a variety of sources and deliver insights that inform strategic land assessments and investigations as part of the Land Assessment Program.Provide technical expertise and practical advice on the development of opportunities to optimise and improve data delivery and analysis processes.Contribute to the identification of emerging trends and issues with potential to impact government land use outcomes, and effectively communicate these to stakeholders.Contribute to relevant data governance procedures and practices.Collaborate with non-technical peers on projects to ensure outputs are high quality, fit-for-purpose and meet the needs of the branch and stakeholders.Model DTP's values and behaviours and play an active role in strengthening the culture of the team and the branch.Key Selection Criteria We are seeking a Senior Spatial Data Analyst to join the Department of Transport and Planning. In this role, you will utilize your expertise in data literacy, digital technologies, and critical thinking to support data-driven decision-making and improve service delivery.
Your key responsibilities will include analysing and interpreting data, generating descriptive statistics, and visualizing data for effective decision-making. You will also integrate technological improvements into processes, taking on roles such as solution architect or project manager, balancing both technology and strategy.
Your problem-solving skills will be essential in addressing issues within the business unit, identifying recurring problems, and implementing solutions that prevent future occurrences. Collaboration will be key as you guide teams, overcome barriers, and work cross-functionally to achieve shared goals.
