The bank has a portfolio of financial services brands and businesses and provides a broad range of banking and financial services in the Australian market.About the roleDue to immense growth in their Data Engineering portfolio, an exciting opportunity has arisen in one of their offices in Sydney. You will join their elite engineering and solution design team, playing a key role in creating the next year's data capabilities at an enterprise level with a modern mindset. You will be responsible for end-to-end accountability for designing, developing, deploying, and supporting your data assets, as well as creating templates and implementation methods and standards.PLEASE NOTE THAT WHILST IT IS A SYDNEY PREFERRED ROLE, CANDIDATES FROM OTHER CITIES ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY, AND FULL SUPPORT WILL BE PROVIDED TO ACCOMMODATE WORK FROM OTHER CITIES.Skill SetsYou need to have the following skill sets to excel in this role:Experience in solution design and high-level design with the ability to lead technical design discussions, estimation, and planning.Experience in implementing and leveraging data platforms, including data integration tools (ETL, batch and real-time), data warehouses, analytics, and data science, as well as modern problem-solving methods, including Machine Learning, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence.Ability to negotiate the proposed solution design with enterprise architects and domain solution architects.Exposure and deep understanding of solution designing aspects for several data-related solutions, including SQL Server, Azure, Synapse, SPARK & SQL, and modern ways of designing solutions based on machine learning and artificial intelligence, with a focus on data science.Preferred experience in banking, finance transformation, and the Institutional Banking (preferably Treasury) space.Experience in building and maturing a data engineering team and optimizing delivery through training, outsourcing, recruitment, automation, etc.ResponsibilitiesYour day-to-day responsibilities would include challenging the bank's technical ambitions and partnering with their chief product owners, CTOs, and other C-Level and GM suite stakeholders, lead architects, and engineers to ensure that they are building next year's capabilities with a modern mindset and toolset. With a very flat and hands-on culture, you will work closely with the bank's senior stakeholders, driving the direction of major incidents or changing the thinking of key stakeholders.Please note that this role requires capabilities to design enterprise-level solutions around data science or machine learning aspects. You will be given opportunities for ongoing professional development and free technical certifications to be highly successful and competitive in your role.This is an urgent position, and my client is currently interviewing candidates.
