City Legal, the specialist legal service for Brisbane City Council, provides cost-effective solutions supporting Council's core business and major projects.
This role in the Corporate Governance and Commercial team reports to the Senior Legal Counsel, focusing on drafting contracts and providing commercial advice for both daily operations and large-scale infrastructure projects.
As a Senior Solicitor, you will have the opportunity to showcase your knowledge and experience in the following areas:
offer specialist legal advice and negotiate with external stakeholdersadvise on commercial, large-scale construction contracts and arrangementsdraft and advise on complex procurement contractsmaintain a knowledge of contemporary professional literature and case lawdevelop strategy, advise on procurement, and manage risk for major projectssupport daily operations and transformative projects leading up to Brisbane 2032lead by example in customer focus, collaborating across council to resolve issuespartner with senior legal counsel and set performance standardsdeliver timely, professional legal services in clear, easy-to-understand languageengage with senior Council and State Government representativesexercise independent judgment with broad guidance from Senior Legal Counselmentor and guide staffperform other duties as assigned by Chief Legal Counsel or Business Services Manager.To be considered, you must be admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and hold a current Practising Certificate from the Queensland Law Society.
This role will require a criminal history check.
