THE ROLE As a Senior Solicitor in the Corporate and Construction team, you will be required to provide timely legal advice and prepare contracts and advice for our clients, which includes senior executive members within the department and portfolio Ministers supported by the department.
In particular, the Senior Solicitor will be expected to support various legal matters relating to the department's Service Agreement with funded community service organisations.
The role will also be required to support the implementation of the Fair Jobs Code for the Community Services Sector, including the anticipated procurement and coordination of workplace mediators in relation to certain disputes arising under the Code.
Your advice must be clear, accurate and appropriate to meeting the client's needs.
You will also be required to assist in monitoring and reporting on the performance and quality of advice of contracted legal firms in meeting the needs of the department's clients.
The Senior Solicitor role will report to one of the Managing Principal Solicitors in the Corporate and Construction Team.
The role is also key in supporting less experienced staff.
