About the role
Senior Solicitors within the CAV Legal team provide legal support across CAV, primarily to the Regulatory Services Division. This support includes specialist legal advice to investigators, preparation of legal briefs, and conducting litigation in various jurisdictions, including the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, Magistrates' Court of Victoria, County Court of Victoria, Supreme Court of Victoria, and the Federal Court of Australia.
The position is part of a newly formed Renting Taskforce team that tackles poor renting conduct and increases renter confidence, focusing on rental offences committed by rental providers and estate agents who do not comply with Victoria's rental laws. It also involves a leadership role in project teams conducting sensitive and complex investigations and compliance and enforcement activities.
Reporting to the General Manager, CAV Legal, Senior Solicitors play a key role in enforcing Australian and Victorian consumer law.
About you
To be considered for the role, you must demonstrate:

Experience in prosecuting/litigating complex and sensitive criminal and civil law cases in various jurisdictions.
Experience managing legal work in a complex environment, including liaison with investigators and other state and federal bodies.
Experience in supporting investigations and in the preparation of and appearances in civil and criminal litigation in complex matters.

Mandatory requirements

Admitted to practice as an Australian lawyer and eligible to hold an unconditional Victorian practising certificate.

Desirable requirements

Availability to work from Service Victoria Offices.
