Purpose of your role The Senior Software Engineer role is responsible for delivering high quality code in a timely manner while leading and working with the engineering managers to design solutions as appropriate. Working in an agile environment you will provide technical leadership and senior technical expertise while delivering quality software. On a day to day basis the Senior Software Engineer is actively helping lead the continuous improvement of our technical delivery and agile processes. The Senior Software Engineer will proactively help push the technical standards and quality of the team forwards, delivering high quality application, automation, and testing code in accordance with industry best practices and OFX guidelines. This position involves becoming an integral part of our agile team dedicated to crafting and overseeing the heart of OFX, contributing to impactful engineering and product initiatives. What you do Work closely with solution and application architects, improve coding practices, and participate in code reviews. Ensure code is efficient and adheres to OFX coding standards and guidelines. Motivate teams and promote a collaborative working environment. Identify complex areas of code that require refactoring and address technical debt. Assist outside of core skills including deployments, QA, and level 3 support when appropriate. Provide leadership as part of the product development team including mentorship and coaching. Work collaboratively within the agile team to deliver user stories, ensuring they meet all acceptance criteria. Conduct design reviews and proof of concepts. Maintain consistent communication with stakeholders. Valuable Experience Expert knowledge in C# and. NET (Core and Framework). Extensive experience with commercial software development. Experience designing, building, and working with RESTful APIs. Experience building and running distributed systems. Experience operating services on serverless or containerized environments. Good understanding of cloud-native application architectures (we use AWS). Knowledge of the client/server technology stack (HTTP, Auth, Timeouts, Retries). Experience with relational databases like SQL Server or Postgres. Knowledge of event-driven architecture and systems. Excellent understanding of Agile development methodology and practices such as TDD, Scrum, Kanban. Experience with unit testing and acceptance criteria frameworks. Experience with architectural design patterns and data modeling. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Cloud Formation/CDK/Terraform) and Dev Ops practices. Experience with No SQL storage solutions like Dynamo DB. Experience with Software as a Service (Saa S) product development. Knowledge of cross-border payments and systems.
