YOUR ROLE This role will be part of the Ambiata Application Engineering team. Part of IAG, Ambiata is an AI and engineering expert unit which provides Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) platforms, products & solutions as well as supporting software infrastructure to IAG (as our parent company) and in a limited fashion to the market. We focus on ethical automated decision systems leveraging advanced AI/ML/GenAI technology. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain our AI and ML services that support personalization and automated customer decision-making. You will collaborate with the team to understand client, product, and internal requirements, translating them into software solutions that enhance business impact and customer experience. Your role will encompass the full application lifecycle, from design to delivery and deployment, including CI/CD practices, and developing scalable web service APIs. Additionally, you will document solutions through various formats, such as flowcharts and code comments, while improving operations by analysing systems and recommending policy and procedure changes. This permanent position is open to candidates based in Sydney or Melbourne and offers a hybrid work model. ABOUT YOU A successful candidate will be a flexible software practitioner with strong Linux and Unix skills, a background in software development and architecture, and a solid understanding of DevOps processes and practices. They should also have the following skills: Extensive experience developing in Python 3. Proven expertise in REST API design and implementation using current web server development tools and methodologies; for example, FastAPI (preferred), Flask, Django Rest Framework, etc. Proficiency in Software Development Best Practices (SCM / Unit Tests); and within the DevOps area, broad knowledge and experience with: Cloud technologies (GCP preferred); CI/CD pipelines; and Docker and Kubernetes deployments. General knowledge, passion, experience and interest in ML technologies and approaches (desirable). Prior experience with two or more of the following: TLS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, minio, flask, fastAPI, PostgreSQL (desirable). Experience of deployment for the cloud using microservices and Docker to facilitate continuous integration and product delivery. A history of developing robust and secure applications.
