Engineering - Software (Information & Communication Technology)Full timeThis role is located in Adelaide, and it is a prerequisite that you are based in this state due to the nature of our work.As a Senior Software Engineer, you will provide engineering leadership to support a team of professionals in the development and delivery of advanced software-focused systems. You and your team will develop, adapt, and mature requirements to assist projects in achieving stakeholder satisfaction. You will help build/maintain customer relationships and high-performing teams, contributing to the continuous improvement of organisational methods, processes, procedures, and standards.You will proactively investigate, define, and resolve complex technical issues within the context of your software engineering development tasking. As part of your role, you will be designing software components applying agreed standards, patterns, and tools. Working with your close-knit team, you will assist with the design of larger software systems, prepare and perfect engineering artefacts, and provide consulting services to our clients.Applicants must be Australian citizens and can obtain a Defence level security clearance.Essential Knowledge and Skills:Relevant tertiary degree in Software Engineering and/or Computer Sciences, or other related discipline.Manage and support the engineers with implementing, developing, and testing software using cutting edge technologies and frameworks.Provide insightful mentoring to other members of the engineering team where appropriate.Demonstrated experience collaborating within software engineering teams and being an adaptable team player within a goal-orientated culture.Proven ability to identify and improve on process inefficiencies to optimise value delivery.Demonstrate extensive experience developing complex systems within Software Engineering. Sound understanding of source code management tools such as Git, and experience using GitHub, GitLab and/or BitBucket.Experience in applying DevSecOps principles, including continuous integration to automate development processes.Proven ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders to help deliver optimised outcomes.Proven willingness to support, identify, and deliver solutions across the project lifecycle.Willingness to participate in building and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and collaborative team culture, and provide mentorship where necessary.Desirable Knowledge and Skills:Familiarity with Architectural Styles (e.g. Microservices, Service-oriented).Test-Driven Development.Enterprise search tools (e.g. Elasticsearch, Apache Solr).Containerisation technologies (e.g. Docker, Podman).Automated software build systems (e.g. Apache Ant, Gradle).Cloud-native technologies (e.g. Cloud Native Computing Foundation and Landscape).DevSecOps principles, practices and tools (e.g., GitLab, SonarQube, JFrog products).Geospatial servers (e.g., GeoServer) and Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards (e.g. WMS, WFS).Previous experience working within the Government, Defence industry and/or have a defence clearance.To be considered, candidates will have:Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Successful candidates must be eligible to hold and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
