Senior Software Developer - Forest Management Join us in our mission to promote biodiversity, conserve our valuable ecosystems, and provide engaging attractions that connect people with nature. APPLICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION CLOSE AT MIDDAY ON TUESDAY, 1 OCTOBER 2024 The Forests Program is managed under the Forest Management Plan. We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Software Developer to undertake bespoke software development and application maintenance for the Forest Management Branch, external agencies, and other clients to ensure a user-friendly interface with Departmental data sets, reliable and accurate client-specific reports, spatial analysis, and client-specific Geographical Information System (GIS) maps.
To be successful for this position, you need to demonstrate your suitability against the following essential selection criteria: Extensive experience in software development and administration of database operations, including development of complex user interfaces, and software capabilities for accessing and administering databases and datasets.Demonstrated high level competency in Python and one other programming language, with a preference for familiarity with Fortran 95 and the Microsoft programming environment/Windows application programming interface (API).Working knowledge of DBMS: Oracle/Apex, PL/SQL or PostgreSQL PostGIS; Geographic Information Systems: QGIS, ARC info or Map Info; and other languages/tools: Django (preferred), or Visual Basic (VB), or Enterprise Architect (EA); essential to be competent in at least one of each group (DBMS, GIS, other languages/tools).Considerable experience in conducting training and information sessions on software application use to a range of audiences.Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and maintain positive working relationships.About Us DBCA, one of Western Australia's largest state government agencies, provides exciting and challenging career opportunities in biodiversity conservation and park and natural resource management.
