PositionProfile As a SeniorSocial Worker, you will help children and families navigate thechallenges that can arise from their health condition.
You willapply knowledge drawn from experience in a clinical setting tounderstand the emotional, social, and psychological needs of ouryoung patients and their families. You will work with families insituations involving the diagnosis of a health condition,disability, child-protection, trauma and bereavement.
Keyresponsibilities of the role include:
Workingcollaboratively as a multidisciplinary team member to conductpsychosocial assessments and carry out interventions withpatients and their families Providing counsellingadvocacy and support to families to access additional supportservices Offering education andtraining to families and staff on a range of topics related toyour clinical practice Actively participatingin and providing clinical supervision to Social Workers andSocial Work students. Pleasenote a tertiary qualification in Social Work and eligibility forfull membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers isa requirement for this role. Resources can beprovided to support transition from an adult careenvironment. About our Department : Based atPerth Children's Hospital, our dedicated team of SocialWorkers, Aboriginal Health Liaison Officers and Welfare Officersoffer a wide range of services to inpatients and outpatients frombirth to 16 years of age.
Designed toassist families in managing the practical, personal, and emotionalimpacts of illness, disability, and hospitalisation, ourcomprehensive services include specialist counselling and crisisassistance, advocacy for patient needs, education, liaison withother services and referral to community-basedresources.
Healthissues can deeply impact the emotional and social well-being ofchildren and their families. As part of a holistic approach to eachchild's care, we work closely with a medical, nursing, andallied health professionals to assess needs and providecompassionate support.
We believethat every child deserves the best possible start in life, and attimes we continue to work with some families even after they leavethe hospital, which includes travelling to support rural andregionally based out-patients.
