The collection itself dates back to 1935, making it one of the world's oldest audiovisual collections.
It is also one of the country's most used cultural collections, with around 125 million views of collection content each year.
The NFSA is in a period of significant change.
Following increased Government investment, the institution is in a process of digital transformation, establishing the NFSA as Australia's most dynamic and valued cultural organisation.
We are rebuilding our curatorial workforce and developing the NFSA's capacity to digitise our collection at scale – to preserve it for the future, to make sure it can be discovered, and to share it with all Australians.
We continue to work on developing a stable, secure and future-proof workforce across our four physical sites based in Canberra and Mitchell in the ACT as well as in Sydney and Melbourne.
We are also undergoing a program of business improvement for many of our corporate systems to improve efficiency and reduce manual handling.

About the Team The Digital Platforms team is part of the Digital Branch.
The team manages the NFSA's digital platforms providing innovative ways to manage, maintain, analyse, discover, and engage with the collection.
This includes the delivery of digital experiences for a wide range of audiences in experiencing Australia's national audio-visual collection.
The Opportunity Reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Platforms the Senior Service Now Developer is responsible for delivering Service Now applications to support the delivery of business functions for a range of internal and external customers.
They will develop and maintain key products and solutions within Service Now in collaboration with peers and business stakeholders.
The role requires a high degree of flexibility, informed judgement, and time management skills along with a pro-active approach and aptitude for rigour and thoroughness.
Excellent oral and written communications are also needed to perform the duties successfully.
The role requires subject matter expertise in Service Now and may be required to develop skills on other systems in use at the NFSA ensuring all standard operating procedures, known issues and workarounds are detailed in supporting documentation.
It provides an exciting and creative opportunity to work with digital products building capability for NFSA programs and engagement.
The position is based at NFSA headquarters in Acton, Canberra, and travel to other NFSA sites may be required from time to time.
The role may be required to assist the ICT team with support from time to time as necessary.

While the position on offer is ongoing, a merit pool of suitable applicants may be established to fill similar ongoing and non-ongoing positions within the next 18-months.
Job Description Under broad direction, this position is responsible for delivering the following functions: Primary architect for all internal custom Service Now solutions.
This includes working with all levels of business both verbally and in writing to determine business needs and how to address them with Service Now.
Design, develop, test, and implement solutions in the Service Now platform based on Business Requirement Specifications.
Lead the complete software development lifecycle for Service Now solutions.
Execute technical solutions taking responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of Service Now solutions, from conceptualisation to architecture, configuration, and enhancement of the Service Now platform as well as release management and implementation.
Provide leadership in the development and customisation of but not limited to; screen and form design, workflow development, dashboard and report configuration, data imports; and integration with internal and external systems including third party software.
Adhere to the Agile methodology of project delivery when releasing new solutions maintaining a comprehensive testing protocol for releases ensuring application compatibility and system stability.
Develop and maintain documentation for all aspects of the Service Now implementation ensuring the knowledge base is up to date and accurate.
Gather, define, prioritise, and validate requirements and design of business processes to meet the needs of the organisation; take responsibility for investigative work into problems and opportunities in existing and new software services.
Liaise and consult with internal and external stakeholders to build strong interdisciplinary connections and ensure effective and detailed communications while upholding the Australian Public Service Values and Code of Conduct, and Work Health & Safety principles.
Selection Criteria The successful candidate will demonstrate their capacity against the following: Demonstrated experience in delivering large-scale Service Now implementations with custom configurations using Service Now's ITSM and CSM modules.
Demonstrated experience developing solution design and architecture artefacts for Service Now solutions.
Experience in supporting or developing requirements gathering, user stories, process flows, systems documentation and user guides to help shape successful product delivery.
Demonstrated ability to work in a small team environment as well as working independently.
Strong oral and written communication skills – including communicating technical and analytical problem-solving to various stakeholders.
Desired Skills and Experience Mandatory: Demonstrated professional experience in developing and configuring in Service Now including workflows and integrating with third party systems and cloud-based systems.
Desirable: Demonstrated portal development experience using HTML5, Angular JS, CSS and web development skills.
Familiarity with virtualized cloud computing environments such as AWS, Azure or Google would be highly desirable.
ICT background in systems integration and administration with a strong knowledge of programming and associated languages.
