Embark on a journey with AusNet as a Senior Secondary Engineer (Protection, Control and Automation) Distribution where you will provide specialised expertise to our Asset Management team. This role is essential in managing and optimising our protection, control, and automation assets.
This fundamental position will be at the forefront of innovation in the energy sector. Your expertise will ensure the full delivery of capex and opex work programs approvals for protection, control and automation devices from year to year.
With a 3/2 hybrid split (3 days in the office, 2 days WFH), this role is based in Southbank and is part of the Asset Management Team.
This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:
Provide technical expertise associated with protection relays, field devices, auxiliary systems and control systems. Develop and implement asset management strategies and equipment standards. Initiate and manage projects, including concept development and business case preparation. Deliver the implementation of asset management and asset replacement initiatives. Support Network Operations to achieve annual capital and operations works plans. Assess and review the condition and performance of protection, control, and automation assets. Investigate and analyse equipment failures, drafting comprehensive reports. Approve and review technical documentation and participate in audits. Technical decision making relating to protection, control and automation schemes and devices. You don't need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
Degree in Engineering with a solid technical background and experience in engineering and asset management. Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing strategic asset management plans, preferably in a regulated environment. Strong commitment to safety outcomes and best practices in engineering projects. In-depth knowledge of distribution system components, equipment, and technologies, with a focus on protection, control and automation devices and emerging trends and innovations. Analytical skills for leveraging data-driven insights to optimise asset performance. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with teams and stakeholders. Ability to lead and coordinate thorough investigations of failure and incident cases. Relevant knowledge of software packages used for analysis and design of protection and control schemes. Exposure to connecting with organisational strategy and identifying what is required at a tactical level to achieve it. A real place to belong
