Join our team as the Senior Engineer (Secondary) where you will provide specialist engineering and technical leadership for engineering to AusNet's Development and Future Networks divisions infrastructure teams.
You will be responsible for autonomously supporting business development and client management activities with techno-commercial inputs in the space of electrical terminal station Secondary design, construction and asset management.
With a hybrid split (Office/WFH), this role is based in Southbank, Melbourne and is part of the Infrastructure Engineering Network Infrastructure Development & Future Networks department, reporting into the Team Lead, Infrastructure.
This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to: Provide specialist technical, commercial, asset management and design advice to support AusNet Services growth within the Stations Secondary engineering discipline.
Working within/leading multidiscipline teams to manage the development of tender and detailed designs, project scopes of work, equipment and construction specifications and other project activities.
Auditing secondary detailed design deliverables to the required quality, meeting all relevant standards and functional requirements.
Provide engineering support to resolve complex engineering issues during project development and delivery.
Identify opportunities to introduce innovation, value engineering and new technologies.
Coach and mentor personnel within the team sharing knowledge and experience to achieve team and divisional objectives.
Assess technical risks and ensure they are managed through design or commercial means.
Support in the development and maintenance of engineering standards, to ensure network compliance with legal, technical, regulatory and safety obligations.
Represent AusNet Services on technical matters with our clients and partners.
Evaluate options and make recommendations for complex technical problems requiring inventiveness to depart from or adapt accepted practices and procedures.
You don't need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of: Degree in Engineering or tertiary qualification with significant experience in utilities with depth in design and asset management.
Prior experience across secondary engineering design and construction with the business acumen and ability to meet engineering design excellence.
NER is required for this role.
Extensive knowledge of Secondary electrical equipment in respect to design, performance, functionality, operation, and maintenance as used in Terminal Stations and Substations rated at up to 500kV.
Ability to use basic design or drawing software (e.g.
AutoCAD) is desirable.
Proven capability in developing conceptual plans into feasible designs and producing high quality design deliverables.
Considerable knowledge of other engineering disciplines and their impacts on Terminal Station & Substation design and equipment selection.
Demonstrated ability to liaise with project related teams such as project managers, commercial, design contractors, construction contractors, communications, real time systems team and other Network Service Providers.
Prior experience working in the Contractor or Service Provider space is desirable.
Chartered Engineering status is desirable.
