UGL is currently looking for an experienced Senior Secondary Electrical Engineer to become a key member of the Power Utilities teams based in Brisbane or Sydney. You will be responsible for providing detailed designs, developing specifications, and interfacing with other disciplines, construction, commissioning, management, and clients on design issues.
The Senior Secondary Engineer will build and maintain strong relationships with the in-house construction teams and our clients to effectively deliver to client expectations. You will:
Plan and conduct professional engineering work on relevant aspects of EHV/HV Secondary Systems Strategic Planning and Conceptual Design (Protection, SCADA, Comms, Data Networks, etc.)Provide detailed design services and consult on specialist engineering areas including, but not limited to:Protection Detailed Design (Protection Logic/Setting files, etc.)Primary Plant and Secondary Systems Equipment Specification and Procurement (CT, VT, CB, TFMR, etc.)Protection & Control Detail Schematics and IntegrationGrid Metering, Power Quality, and High-Speed Monitoring InstallationsLoad flow, Fault level, and dynamic studies and analysisEngineering Network/Data Network Architecture and ConfigurationControl System Detailed Design and Configuration (EMS and Substation Automation)Communication Systems (including Data Network and Bearer Network systems design)General AC & DC System Specification and Distribution DesignPower Generation (including large scale Solar, Wind, and Battery Energy Storage systems) detailed design and system integrationProvide technical support to the Business Development and Tendering as required.Assist with site commissioning if required (short term in general).When required, assume the role of Design (Package) Leader in accordance with the Company's Engineering procedures.Plan, coordinate, and mentor other engineers.Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.About youThe following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don't tick all the boxes, you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Electrical Engineering Degree.At least 5 years' experience in Design, integration & coordination, installation & commissioning of electrical systems and services for high voltage power systems.Understanding and knowledge of secondary system design from basic concept development through to detailed design preferably in a Design-for-Construction environment, utility-based or engineering consultancy design experience.Strong computer skills and industry experience in a diverse range of relevant Power System Protection and Automation software packages, equipment suppliers, and products.Proactively seek to continuously improve performance, deliverables, and work efficiencies.Positive approach to safety.Ability to manage multiple stakeholders.Excellent relationship building, problem-solving, commercial, and negotiation skills.UGL – Big projects.
