About the Role: ACT Pathology is a department of Canberra Health Services offering a diagnostic pathology service to the ACT and surrounding region. The laboratory operates 24 hours, seven days a week, offering a wide range of testing procedures over two campuses. The main laboratory is located at the Canberra Hospital and the branch laboratory is located at the North Canberra Hospital.
Infectious Immunoassay is a subsection of the Immunopathology & Infectious Immunoassay Department of ACT Pathology. Infectious Immunoassay offers a range of automated, semi-automated and manual procedures. Current automation is performed on the Abbott Alinity, BioMerieux Vidas, Dynex DS2 EIA analyser and DiaSorin LiaisonXL.
Under broad direction of the Clinical Director of Microbiology and the Chief Scientist of Immunopathology and Infectious Immunoassay you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the Infectious Immunoassay subsection, performing complex testing, instrument trouble shooting, KPI monitoring, quality control monitoring, managing resources, maintaining manuals and training programs for staff, providing leadership in strategic planning and optimal operational management.
This position is a full-time permanent position. The successful applicant will be required to work nominal hours Monday to Friday. There will also be a requirement to participate in the out of hours roster and overtime as required.

Canberra Hospital Expansion Project – CHS is constructing a new critical services building called 'Building 5' which is a 44,000sqm nine storey building specifically designed to deliver state-of-the-art acute clinical services at the Canberra Hospital. North Canberra Hospital - As of 3 July 2023 Calvary Public Hospital Bruce transitioned to CHS and became North Canberra Hospital. The transition will deliver a health system networked under one provider and will provide increased workforce opportunities for staff at both CHS sites.
