Within the context of the responsibilities described above under 'Your key responsibilities', the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
Ability to apply high level scientific expertise in core disciplines in the laboratory. Ability to provide high level scientific advice to laboratory staff and District Health Service clients on a broad range of issues pertaining to the laboratory. Ability to provide scientific services to ensure the maintenance of professional clinical standards (NATA/ISO) by utilising established principles/procedures. Knowledge, expertise and skill in the management of one or more of the core disciplines in line with established financial, human resource and strategic direction of Pathology Queensland. Advanced communication skills and demonstrated commitment to maintaining a positive and competent work team. Qualifications, registrations and other requirements It may be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment (Health Employment Directive No. 01/16): measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B, tuberculosis. The successful applicant must hold a Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) degree, or an equivalent qualification. While it is anticipated that this shift position will involve mainly day and evening shifts, in some circumstances the incumbent may be required, following consultation, to participate in a 24-hour shift rotation or other roster arrangements.
