Pathology (Healthcare & Medical) Government - State (Government & Defence) Full time You will possess a high level of clinical interpretative skills and be a resource within the department in point of care testing.
As such, you will take a lead role within the department, including staff training, staff education, documentation of process within the department, quality monitoring, proposing, and delivering improvements and advanced instrumentation troubleshooting.
Key competencies (role specific criteria) Demonstrated high level knowledge and skill in the performance of chemistry and/or Immunoassay investigations in a clinical pathology laboratory.
High level knowledge of clinical pathology point of care analysers and other monitoring devices.
Significant experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas – training, education, quality or troubleshooting in a clinical chemistry laboratory.
Demonstrated clinical leadership ability and contribution to the professional development of others.
Proven ability to solve complex problems in the workplace.
High level communication skills and ability to develop and maintain professional relationships in the workplace.
Ability to lead process improvement and client liaison activities.
Understanding of laboratory quality systems and the requirements of NATA accreditation and ISO certification.
Awareness of the human resource management policies applicable to contemporary workplaces.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements The successful applicant must hold a relevant degree in science or equivalent from a recognised University or other tertiary institution.
A degree in Medical Laboratory Science would be considered preferable.
As this is a senior scientific position, the incumbent will have considerable demonstrated high-level experience in a clinical chemistry laboratory including point of care.

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) requirements It will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella and Varicella.
Additional vaccinations including Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies may also be required for this position.
Existing staff that are engaged prior to 1 July 2016 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements that is with a different Queensland Health entity (i.e.
one HHS to another HHS, department to a HHS, or HHS to department).
