Clinical Lab's employees are passionate about what they do, the work environment in which they operate and the safety and wellbeing of all who interact with us.About the roleThe Microbiology Department at Australian Clinical Laboratories Adelaide Airport Laboratory is currently recruiting for a full-time experienced Microbiology Senior Scientist / 2IC to take on a leadership role within the department.This position will aid the Head of Department in supervising the efficient, cost effective and safe operation of the Microbiology department. This includes supervision of staff, managing work processes, maintaining quality and occupational health and safety requirements. The successful applicant will lead by example to promote a healthy and positive culture both within the department and with all other stakeholders internal and external of the business.As part of the Microbiology Team, you will be flexible to work across ALL rotating rosters, including on call (if required), weekends & public holidays depending on the service needs of the department as directed by the Head of Department or senior staff.Key duties of the role will include:Assist the HOD to ensure the department meets all required KPI's to deliver a timely, quality pathology service.Assist in staff training.Perform diagnostic laboratory tests, including validation and reporting across multiple department which may include Bacteriology, Mycobacterium, Environmental water testing and Molecular Microbiology.Perform Microbiology Bench Reading tasks.Participate in monthly KPI and Quality Assurance Programs.Implement initiatives in consultation with the Head of Department to provide continuous improvements for the laboratory.Participate in research and development projects as required.To be considered for the role you will need to possess the following:A Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent acceptable for membership with; Australian Institute of Medical Scientists (AIMS), or the Australian Society for Microbiology.Recent Microbiology Bench Reading Experience (5+ years).Demonstrated leadership skills and experience.Experience in training staff.About You:Passionate about delivering good customer service to all stakeholders.Strong multitasker with superb organisational Skills.Applicants must address the criteria above in their application.Australian Clinical Labs is an equal opportunities employer, we encourage applications from people of all ages, nationalities, abilities, and cultures – including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the LGBTQI+ community and people living with disability.
