In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for leading safety assessments, managing risk strategies, and driving the implementation of safety protocols to ensure the highest standards of operational integrity. What you will be doing.The Senior Risk and Safety Engineer is responsible for the delivery of well-written, concise deliverables, to a high standard. The key responsibilities of this role are as follows:
Development of Safety Cases for a range of facilities/industries (vessels, offshore/onshore facilities, subsea infrastructure, pipelines, drilling, diving, construction/installation).Development of Formal Safety Assessment (FSA) studies (e.g. Fire & Explosion Analysis (FEA), Smoke and Gas Ingress Assessment (SGIA), Non-Flammable Hazards Analysis (NFHA), Escape, Temporary Refuge, Evacuation, and Rescue Assessment (ETRERA), Emergency System Survivability Assessment (ESSA), Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), Dropped Object Study (DOS), Ship Collision, Bowtie diagrams, Performance Standards and ALARP demonstration).Facilitating large / complex / non-standard workshops (e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, Environmental Risk Assessments and Pipeline Risk Assessments).Client focal point – scoping of work, CTR / proposal, kick off meetings, progress updates.Project management of multiple projects / clients.Manages junior consultants.Knowledge of current legislation / regulations / industry guidance and aware of significant changes / up to date with changes to regulator expectations (eg. checks NOPSEMA newsletters, reviews SCRNs, etc).Ensuring compliance with the Group Management System and associated procedures.Participation in the appropriate Management System induction, training and equipment for work in the Company office and to Client's offices and sites.Follow the Company's QA System (including formatting and templates) for all deliverables.Looking after the health and safety of themselves and others.Remedying or reporting any hazardous situations they become aware of.Suggesting improvements to the Management System.Have knowledge of legislation/regulations/regulator expectations, risk management standards and industry guidance.Always comply with the company QHSE policies, manuals, procedures, work systems and regulations at ABL premises, projects and client sites. What we are looking for.As a Senior Safety and Risk Engineer, you'll need a unique combination of technical expertise and leadership skills to excel in this role. The ideal candidate should possess:
Minimum 10 years' experience in a related field Degree in engineering or related subject from a recognised university.Problem solving – able to deliver one-off / non-standard study (no precedent).Drafts full high quality proposals.Familiar with Company capabilities for business development purposes.Ability to work remotely, travel to site or overseas for work as required.Ability to work independently, conduct yourself professionally and present a professional image.Ability to schedule individual work scopes to meet agreed deadlines.High attention to detail with the ability to take comments on board, understand, apply and improve.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferably with formula driven worksheets and accounting software.High degree of computer literacy to include competence in current Microsoft applications and file management.Self-motivated, energetic and engaging.Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.Ability to lead team forward.Able to translate thoughts into well written documents Technically and commercially astute.Ability to establish effective working relationship with clients.High level of competency in written English to produce complex technical reports.Strong people and interpersonal skills.Ability to interact effectively at all levels within the Company both autonomously as well as part of a team.Proactive and insightful.
