Are you ready to assume a vital position in GemLife's Estimating team?
This role demands meticulous attention to detail, robust analytical abilities, and a comprehensive knowledge of construction processes and materials. You will be tasked with preparing precise and competitive cost estimates for residential construction projects, from the initial planning phases to their completion. Contributing directly to our ability to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget while collaborating closely with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure projects maintain our high standards of quality and craftsmanship. You are a strong communicator, negotiator and collaborator, as you will be liaising with internal and external stakeholders and consultants. Organisation is a strength as is the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
Key Responsibilities (include, but not limited to).
Project Evaluation: Review project plans, specifications, and blueprints to understand project scope and requirements.
Cost Estimation: Develop comprehensive estimates for materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor tasks, grounded in meticulous analysis and market research, ensuring minimal discrepancies.
Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers. Negotiate pricing and terms to achieve competitive and cost-effective solutions.
Budget Management: Develop and maintain project budgets throughout the construction process. Monitor expenses and adjust estimates as needed to ensure financial targets are met.
Documentation: Create and maintain accurate records of estimates, contracts, change orders, and correspondence related to each project.
Collaboration: Work closely with project teams, including architects and engineers to clarify project requirements and provide support throughout the construction phase.
Your Experience
5-7 years of experience as a Residential Construction Estimator in high volume residential construction
Proficiency in construction estimating and administration software
Familiarity with relevant Australian Building and National Construction Codes
Understanding of local requirements for construction documentation and design compliance.
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
Cert III Carpentry, Trade Background or a Cert IV in Building, (preferred but not necessary).
