Senior Research Officer, Queensland Police ServiceCome join the multidisciplinary team as a member of the Queensland Police Service's (QPS) Operational Research Unit.Our team supports the QPS intelligence capability by providing evidence-based advice to reduce crime and make the community safer.As part of the Operational Research team, you will work closely with a talented and innovative team to complete high-quality professional research projects on various matters including crime trends, policing practice, and preventative programs.You will use existing research and various quantitative and qualitative methods to guide practice in an intelligence environment.The outcomes and findings from your work will inform policing practices and assist to improve community safety.As part of this role, you'll also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support operational policing and key QPS projects and initiatives.Your Key AccountabilitiesEvaluate QPS intelligence-driven operational activities, programs and initiatives and consult with other areas of the QPS on evaluation practices, methods and approaches.Monitor and review policing practices, strategies and initiatives at state, national and international levels and provide advice on their efficiency, effectiveness and applicability to the QPS.Undertake research into external and internal issues affecting the QPS and translate complex findings into practical, useable knowledge.Deliver well-researched, strategic advice to Senior management and stakeholders through clear, concise briefings and evaluations ensuring informed decision making.Develop and maintain effective networks and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and agencies to deliver positive outcomes for the QPS.Provide assistance to other areas of the Service as required.Role RequirementsMandatoryThe successful applicant/s may be required to undergo psychometric assessment prior to appointment.QualificationWhile there are no mandatory qualifications required for this role, possession of a relevant degree level qualification with a significant focus on research and/or evaluation would be considered favourably.Technical/ Operational/ Educational ExperienceExperience with data analysis and visualisation (such as R, Stata, JASP, SPSS, Excel, PowerBI, etc.) is desirable.OtherApplicants are advised that whilst performing the duties of the position they may be exposed to material (written, visual and audio) of a graphic and sensitive nature.Applicants are advised that travel interstate and intrastate may be required.Applications to remain current for 12 months.Job Ad Reference: QLD/603355/24Closing Date: Monday, 25th November 2024
