Their groundbreaking work has led to the transformation of Australia's National Cervical Screening Program, which transitioned to HPV testing in 2017, positioning Australia as the first country expected to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health issue.Professor Canfell's team also leads Compass, Australia's largest-ever clinical trial with 76,000 women— the first trial worldwide to assess cervical screening in an HPV-vaccinated population. Through her leadership, we're shaping the future of cancer control both domestically and internationally.In collaboration with the U.S. National Cancer Institute's CISNET-Cervical initiative and the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Cervical Cancer Control, our research continues to lead the way in cancer screening, policy impact, and the prevention of major cancers such as cervical, bowel, lung, and breast cancer.A key partner in the WHO Cervical Cancer Elimination Modelling Consortium (CCEMC), the team's work on the economic benefits and impact of cervical cancer elimination is cited in the World Health Organization's strategic plan.Our team is recruiting a number of roles, suiting individuals with a strong understanding of the domestic and global cancer research and implementation ecosystem, in particular in the prevention, screening and early detection domains of cervical cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, colorectal, prostate and/or pancreatic cancer, and with experience contributing to the design, analysis, reporting and delivery of high-quality cancer control research, epidemiological, health services and implementation initiatives.Your key responsibilities will be to:Guide research direction and priorities, ensuring projects align with broader university goals.Evaluate and optimise grant management processes, ensuring maximum funding opportunities and successful grant acquisitions.Champion best practices in research, driving the adoption of innovative methodologies and ensuring stringent compliance.Direct the design and implementation of advanced data management systems, ensuring data-driven insights and research excellence.Navigate external partnerships, fostering collaborations that elevate research stature and impact.Lead research documentation and publication approach, ensuring impactful dissemination of research findings.Foster open communication and collaboration within the team, addressing stakeholder queries and concerns in a timely manner, while building trust within immediate work networks.Oversee report compilation to meet established standards, proactively identify compliance improvements, and collaborate with the team to rectify discrepancies.Coordinate purchasing processes and resolve any discrepancies in payment schedules.Monitor risk within the team, promote workplace health and safety, ensure alignment with university policies, and proactively address potential challenges.Conduct data analysis and prepare preliminary reports including data cleaning and handling, modelling and reporting.About youA strong understanding of cancer patients and populations, and in-depth knowledge of research methodologies.Experience in managing research, implementation and philanthropic projects.Tertiary qualifications – Biostatistics required or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams including managing staff.Significant experience managing software and code-based projects.Strong experience in programming and platform development.Highly experienced in simulation modelling, including epidemiological and economic analyses, for health related applications.Highly experienced in leading analyses and the creation of detailed modelling reports, skilled in contributing to and managing the production of both narrative and data.Experience with data analysis of administratively linked healthcare data.Experience utilising analytics platforms and developing actionable recommendations including extensive experience in SQL and SAS.Experience analysing and providing insights on complex quantitative and qualitative data.Inner drive, perseverance, confidence and the ability and willingness to work independently.Excellent verbal and written communication skills including confidence in presentation of data analysis and reports to team and stakeholders.Sponsorship / work rights for AustraliaPlease note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
