The Role Reporting directly to the Research Director - Sport, you will primarily be managing the research requirements for some of the largest sports rightsholders in Australia including the AFL and Netball Australia. You will be exposed to a variety of sports professionals and the opportunity to develop life-long professional and social networks.
Your day-to-day will start afresh with exposure to a diverse range of research briefs and projects. This can range from evaluating sponsorships for commercial teams, helping grow women's sport through strategic research, helping clubs attract new sponsors, to tracking marketing activity and recall across major sports events.
To achieve this for your clients, you will be using a hybrid research approach involving the use of existing syndicated data tools to pull together actionable insights or running custom bespoke research from start to finish. You will have high levels of exposure to clients in-person via presenting, training, and developing their competency in utilising our tools or hot-desking onsite when required.
This is a leadership role in the team, suited to a strong researcher with exposure to both proprietary and custom research, ready to take their career to the next level. Internally, you will be responsible for managing junior researchers, helping to develop our sports data and research tools, contributing to sales activity / proposals and being pro-active with new innovative ideas to further improve our processes and quality of work. You will have a growth mindset, eager to accelerate our business both through acquisition, and organic growth by becoming a trusted advisor to your clients. In the absence of the Research Director you will assist in the management of the team (running WIPS, managing workflow etc.).
What will I be delivering? Working closely with the Research Director to report project plans, resources and deliverables as well as address any issues. Account manage a portfolio of top-tier accounts including AFL and Netball Australia. Managing complex projects from start to finish either independently or as a small team which includes workshopping briefs, questionnaire design, data cleaning, analysis, and full reporting. Using syndicated tools to deliver mid-season and end of season sponsorship reports to all clients. Creating complex proposals in line with client requirements along with competitive costings. Data analysis: Utilizing YouGov's research tools, you will be required to look into trends, conduct quality control reviews and recommend client-focused research solutions. Keep up-to-date with new data insights techniques and models, including how they are relevant and applicable for the business, whilst seeking to continuously improve existing techniques and models. Keeping up to date with global and local sports trends and understanding your clients' business back-to-front. Qualifications Minimum 7 years of Market Research experience and a passion for Australian sport are mandatory. Ability to run custom projects from start to finish including questionnaire design, hypothesis based analysis, reporting with meaningful insight and recommendations mandatory (Q software skills a bonus). Strong attention to detail, exceptional time management and organisation skills. Proven track record of managing junior researchers / interns preferred. Proven track record of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced dynamic environment. Proven track record of independently running client meetings with impact. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to approach and solve problems. Effective communication skills (written, spoken and presentation). Excellent stakeholder engagement with senior-level internal (management) and external (executive/c-suite) stakeholders.
