Your new role We are looking for an exceptional and driven Senior Research Fellow (SRF)  with a strong background in rural research and a proven track record of rural research publications in well-regarded journals to join our team.
As an SRF for research, you will have the opportunity to engage in diverse work, including independent research aligned with our stakeholders' needs, as well as collaborative efforts within our department and with national and international rural researchers.
In this position, you will serve as a leading figure in research, offering valuable guidance in conceptualising, designing, and executing research projects.
Your expertise in rural research  will be pivotal in mentoring higher degree students and early career researchers, contributing to the progression of knowledge in rural health and wellbeing, and influencing policy and practice through scholarly publications.

Selection Criteria Established body of rural research with publications in well-regarded journals.
A doctoral qualification in relevant discipline.
Evidence of an established national reputation and growing international profile and a record of obtaining research income, including nationally competitive research grants and/or fellowships.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead major research initiatives, provide mentoring to less experienced staff and supervise HDR students.
Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
Work Requirements The role requires an academic with a proven body of rural health research.
The position will be of interest to those with a health, social science, anthropological, or educational background.
Occupants of this position will be required to undertake a criminal record check in accordance with the University's Criminal Record Screening Procedure.
Interstate and/or overseas travel may be required.

Established in 2023, the Goldfields University Department of Rural Health (GUDRH) aims to strengthen the supply, capability, and impact of healthcare graduates in the Goldfields region and in doing so, help address healthcare disparities in our rural communities.
Operated by Curtin University in collaboration with the Western Australia Country Health Service and the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations), GUDRH receives funding from the Department of Health and Aged Care under the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) Program.
The GUDRH's focus is multifaceted and includes.
Raising awareness of, and fostering access to, health science careers Providing enriching and positive rural placements for current health science students Supporting the enhancement of local health professionals' capabilities, especially in the area of clinical supervision Conducting rurally relevant research Expansion of health science degrees and qualifications on offer at the Kalgoorlie Campus.
The activities of the GUDRH are underpinned by interprofessional learning to promote collaborative care practices, vital for maximising rural health care outcomes.
The GUDRH also prioritises education in the area of Aboriginal health and wellbeing, culturally safe ways of working, and the place of traditional medicine, to help support improved health outcomes for Aboriginal communities.
