(Harry Butler, 2015).The RoleThe Research Fellow will conduct industry-funded research on terrestrial and subterranean invertebrates of conservation value, with a specific focus on short-range endemic species.
This role will involve enhancing field collection methods, advancing taxonomic and systematic research on key invertebrate groups for environmental assessments, and improving identification tools, including the use of molecular techniques.
You will be responsible for producing high quality reports, and publishing taxonomic and systematic research in reputable journals.
You will also be expected to secure further research funding.The Senior Research Fellow will conduct and lead industry-funded contract research on terrestrial and subterranean invertebrates of conservation value, with a specific focus on short-range endemic groups.

You will also be expected to secure further research funding.Please refer to the two Position Descriptions for further details on the two positions.What you'll bring to this roleResearch FellowPhD in an area relevant to appointment.Demonstrated experience in managing and conducting field work in remote locations, targeting terrestrial invertebrates.Demonstrated expertise (shown through quality reports and publications) in the taxonomy and systematics of terrestrial invertebrates.Expertise in molecular diagnostic and systematic techniques, in particular relating to the identification of invertebrates (DNA "barcoding" using taxon-appropriate markers or marker combinations).Capacity to successfully obtain and manage external research funds, in particular industry funds for environmental assessment studies.Senior Research FellowPhD in an area relevant to appointment.Demonstrated experience in managing and conducting field work in remote locations, targeting terrestrial invertebrates.Demonstrated high-level expertise (shown through quality reports and publications) in the taxonomy and systematics of terrestrial invertebrates.Expertise in molecular diagnostic and systematic techniques, in particular relating to the identification of invertebrates (DNA "barcoding" using taxon-appropriate markers or marker combinations).Demonstrated success in generating high quality independent research outputs with national recognition and developing an international profile.A track record of success in obtaining and successfully managing external research funds, in particular industry funds for environmental assessment studies.Applicants should refer to the Position Descriptions for further details on the work requirements, duties, skills and experience required for this role.
