Senior Research Fellow - Astrophotonics

As the appointee you will, under broad direction undertake research relating to all aspects of the Astrophotonics research group.
This includes contributing towards radio astronomy instrumentation, terrestrial laser links, space laser links, and quantum technologies.
You will be expected to work with the Principal Research Fellow to mentor other Astrophotonics staff and supervise Masters and PhD students.
You will be responsible for reporting, documentation, and leadership of research activities with the Astrophotonics research group.To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate: PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline or other appropriate higher professional qualificationsExperience in several of the following technical areas:radio astronomy instrumentationfree-space optics, optical fibre coupling, and optical system designexperimental frequency or quantum metrologyclassical and coherent optical communications systemsquantum technologies and quantum communicationsExperience with supervision of junior research staffExperience with supervision of Masters and PhD studentsExperience with systems engineering processes and documentationDemonstrable experience of leading public engagement activities that promote research and/or education outcomes, government and industryDemonstrated ability to relate well to staff and students at all levels and evidence of a commitment to equity and diversity principles
