Position Details Fixed term until December 2027 | Full-Time Academic Level C | $129,818 - $149,331 p.a. Academic Level D | $155,839 - $171,450 p.a. About Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT At Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT, our aim is to be a hub for innovative health research, education, and workforce development across the Northern Territory. We engage with students, community, and stakeholders to provide critical programs, such as the Northern Territory Medical Program, Paramedicine, Rural Clinical School, and the University Department of Rural Health. We have a community driven research program led by researchers committed to improving health outcomes, particularly in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing. All activities are driven by our values which focus on the long-term and short-term needs of the NT community. About the Role The incumbent will take a lead role in developing, managing and implementing research and evaluation projects and in expanding the College's research activities through the attraction of external grants and research contracts, delivering on strategic research objectives, establishing and maintaining industry and research partnerships, identifying commercially relevant outputs and building the University's national reputation through high quality publications and strong research collaborations. The position will provide leadership in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of Rural and Remote Health research initiatives. It will also build the research capability of, Advanced Studies and Higher Degree Research students, and junior research staff, including direct supervision and line management. The Associate Professor and Principal Research Fellow will be responsible for strengthening research collaborations externally and internally and play a key role in the recruitment and quality supervision of higher degree research students. In addition, the position will be required to provide leadership and direction to staff and students in relation to research plans, developing successful research track records in strategic areas of research and providing feedback on individual grant applications and publications. About You To be successful in this role you will demonstrate: Completion of a PhD or equivalent in medicine, nursing, allied health, public health or remote health Capacity to develop and manage high quality and culturally safe research and evaluation projects, including ethics submissions and budgets Commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture, and role modelling behaviours that support the University's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and commitment to enhancing educational and research advancement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people Experience in leading research and evaluation program and strategy development effectively Evidence of an outstanding research track record (for career stage) in an area aligned with research strengths in rural and remote health including evidence of substantial and sustained high-quality publications with corresponding authorship and attraction of competitive grants.
