Full-time (100%), fixed-term position through to June 2026, with possibility of extension
Base salary will be in the range $89,861.38 - $96,402.32 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 6)

About This OpportunityIn this role, you will provide technical support to the Queensland node of the National Biologics Facility predominantly in the areas of protein analytics and characterisation, but also supporting upstream and downstream bioprocessing, and quality assurance.
Your focus will be on qualifying and executing analytical assays for the characterisation of biologics and their development as therapeutic agents.
You will be based at the National Biologics Facility (NBF), within AIBN.
The NBF provides high-quality, custom discovery and manufacturing solutions for the development and production of recombinant biopharmaceuticals in mammalian cells.
The facility works with academic and industrial researchers to help drive their research from early discovery through to pre-clinical development, and receives funding from the Commonwealth Government's National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy.
You will help drive the next generation of innovative therapeutics and must have a passion for translational science.
Key Responsibilities Core Scientific Validate and execute analytical assays for the characterisation of quality attributes of recombinant protein biologics
Qualify analytical assays for batch release and stability testing
Undertake protein formulation studies
Peer review of Test Methods and Batch Reports for internal quality assurance
Assist with the wider NBF bioprocess activities (as required), including molecular biology, upstream and downstream bioprocessing
General Communicate results in detailed batch reports and presentations to internal and external stakeholders
Undertake project management to track projects through milestones
Assist with maintaining the Facility's Quality Systems, including Quality Assurance activities
Generate, review and follow Standard Operating Procedures with a high attention to detail
Assist in the maintenance and daily operation of the laboratory, clean room facilities and equipment
Support the development of more junior research engineers, scientists, and technicians, including research higher degree students
Any other duties as reasonably directed by your supervisor
Safety Ensure a high standard of occupational health and safety standards and systems and assist with developing a proactive safety culture and implement continuous improvement
About YouEssential Qualifications and training equivalent to a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in a relevant area (Bioengineering, Bioprocessing, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy)
Experience in the analytical characterisation of recombinant proteins related to biopharmaceutical development, including assay development and qualification
Experience working within a Quality Management System, including knowledge of ISO, NATA, GLP or GMP requirements
Demonstrated ability to work independently including experimental design and interpretation of results
Experience in following Standard Operating Procedures, record keeping and preparation of reports
Responsible approach to equipment use and maintenance
Computer literacy including experience with standard office software and electronic databases
Well-developed problem-solving skills, with an ability to forward plan, prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and work with a high level of adaptability, both independently and as part of a team
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to produce clear, succinct documentation
Desirable Knowledge of the biologics manufacturing industry in GMP environments
Experience in writing Standard Operating Procedures and Qualification Protocols
Experience in protein formulation studies
