Job Description The Australian Rivers Institute (ARI) was formed in 2006 and is one of Australia's largest university aquatic ecosystem research groups with globally recognised expertise in river, catchment and coastal ecosystems and the interaction with these systems in society.
ARI combines outstanding scholarship with making a significant contribution to society through providing knowledge and advice.
ARI's talented researchers offer essential insights into the water cycle's linkages, interconnectedness, and interdependencies.
Join the Australian Rivers Institute as a Senior Research Assistant and play a pivotal role in our Linkage project focused on the ecosystem services derived from constructing a mangrove forest.
We are looking for a dedicated wetland ecologist to provide top-tier research support.
As Senior Research Assistant you will; Support the Linkage project by conducting laboratory and field research in coastal wetland biogeochemistry and ecology.
Assist in designing data collection methods and scientific tests.
Oversee data collection, storage, and preliminary analysis in accordance with research protocols.
Prepare and compose reports.
Supervise technical staff and support PhD students with field and laboratory work.
About you To succeed in this role, you will have relevant tertiary qualifications and significant research experience in coastal wetlands, ideally, with driving, boating and safety accreditations.
You will also have demonstrated; Proficiency in analysing data from laboratory and field research in coastal wetland biogeochemistry and ecology.
Skill in designing data collection methods and scientific tests.
Experience in overseeing data collection, storage, and preliminary analysis according to research protocols.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills and the commitment to work collegially, including opportunities for publishing research and supporting students within the Australian Rivers Institute and School of Environment and Science.
What we can offer This is a fixed term (up to three years), full time position and will be primarily based at the Griffith University Nathan campus.
As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.
Griffith University's campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
Salary Range The full time equivalent base salary will be Senior Research Assistant Grade 1 range $88,995 - $99,367 per annum + 17% superannuation.
The total FTE package will be in the range $104,124 - $116,259 per annum.
