We are seeking a Senior Regulatory Officer to join our team in the Townsville office, North Queensland Region. This is a permanent full-time position. If you are passionate about early childhood education and a strong start for children this is the job for you.

The NorthQueensland Region is seeking applicants with current early childhood knowledge, regulatory or monitoring experience and an ability to rapidly acquire skills and a working knowledge relating to the provision of quality early childhood education and care.

The department also hosts the Early Childhood Regulatory Authority. As the Early Childhood Regulatory Authority, the department is responsible for regulating Queensland's early childhood education and care sector and also responsible for assessing and rating the quality of Queensland early childhood education and care services against the National Quality Standard. The NQS is a key aspect of the National Quality Framework and sets a national benchmark for early childhood education and care services.
Responsibilities include: As the Senior Regulatory Officer you will:
Apply relevant early childhood education and care (ECEC) legislation, standards, policies and guidelines fairly and consistently when undertaking regulatory functions within the context of the Regulating for Quality policy; andDevelop and maintain positive relationships with ECEC providers and services, government agencies and other stakeholders to achieve regulatory objectives.As a Senior Regulatory Officer your responsibilities include:
Undertaking regulatory activities and making recommendations that support the Regulatory Authority to undertake its functions under the legislation and in accordance with the principles of good administrative decision making.Providing recommendations that are informed by data, analysis of evidence and accurate interpretation of the legislation.Identifying and responding to risk in the ECEC sector through application of risk-based decision making in accordance with the legislation, exercising powers, gathering evidence and escalating matters accordingly.Implementing operational policy initiatives drawing on feedback, evaluation and data analysis to improve regulatory process and practice.How to Apply Please attach a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant previous work history); andAttach a maximum 2-page response outlining your skills and abilities relevant to the role.
