About the role The ERA is looking for a highly skilled researcher to join us as a Senior Regulatory Analyst in the Energy Markets division on a full-time permanent contract.
You will research, undertake and initiate a variety of complex and sensitive projects, including reviews and approvals of various price and cost related aspects of WA's wholesale electricity market. This will include using, developing and enhancing economic/financial/ mathematical/statistical analyses or models to provide relevant information and outputs and also prepare draft determinations and decisions.
You will join the Strategy and Innovation team which is a multi-disciplinary, supportive team trusted for its integrity, professionalism and expertise. This team strives to create positive change, enhance current market dynamics, and contribute to the implementation of forward-thinking strategic initiatives.
A full description of the role is included in the attached Job Description Form. About the ERA The ERA is the independent regulator of electricity, gas, water and rail in Western Australia. Our purpose is to benefit all Western Australians by promoting strong economic outcomes through effective regulation and decision making. We strive to make sure current and future consumers pay no more than necessary for safe and reliable utilities.
We have two regulatory divisions. The Energy Markets division monitors market participant behaviour, investigates and enforces compliance with the market rules, and supports the operation and development of the Wholesale Electricity Market by developing procedures, methods and conducting regulatory reviews.
The Regulation Division administers licensing schemes for the electricity, gas and water industries and reviews and makes decisions on access to regulated monopoly infrastructure in the electricity, gas and rail industries.
