There are multiple Registrar vacancies available for training in Emergency Medicine. The level of FACEM direct supervision and teaching is excellent.The Emergency Department has an annual attendance rate of 28,000 patients per year with a 28% admission rate. The Department treats a broad range of patients including major trauma cases. It is the referral centre for several district hospitals including King Island.There is an opportunity for trainees that are approaching their fellowship exams to be rostered on the consultant roster with FACEM supervision to ease their way into consultant practice, with clinical support time provided.A diverse team, with clinicians from more than ten countries in the department and from all around Australia including indigenous Australians. The FACEMs have a wide range of backgrounds from advanced training in simulation and toxicology to PEM training, mental health interest, FACEMs who work in humanitarian contexts, and those who are part of the Australian Defence Force.
