About Us Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the 'Courts Group'.
MCV The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the Role The Senior Registrar is responsible for managing the operational functions of the Heidelberg Magistrates' Court, and ensuring all legal, quasi-judicial and administrative functions are provided in accordance with the various Acts, Rules and Regulations across all relevant jurisdictions.
A major focus of the role will be to lead and manage staff in a complex judicial environment with competing demands whilst ensuring that the functions and services are appropriately resourced and delivered in line with the Court's business objectives.
The Senior Registrar will be working collaboratively with the Regional Coordinating Magistrate, the Executive Director, Court Operations and the Senior Manager. Metropolitan and will play a pivotal role in initiating, building and maintaining key stakeholder relationships, providing high level authoritative advice to the Court's Executive including the Chief Magistrate and Chief Executive Officer. The Senior Registrar will participate and contribute to the Court's strategic planning and direction.
About You • As a Registrar of the Magistrates' Court, manage the operations of all courts ensuring the delivery of court registry services and quasi-judicial functions in accordance with legislation, policies and court operational practices.
• Manage and lead an area with significant staff responsibilities to deliver responsive services by monitoring demand pressures, performance outputs and resourcing requirements of the region, identifying service gaps and developing flexible solutions to obtain the most cost-effective outcomes.
• Provide high level, complex, appropriate and authoritative advice on all matters coming within the Court's jurisdictions to key stakeholders and court users and represent the Court on various forums and committees.
• Exercise financial delegations and manage a significant budget for the region.
• Manage the security and maintenance of court buildings and their surrounds in accordance with Court policies and procedures.
