Local Government North Region; Strategy and Service Delivery; Local Government; Townsville
As a valued employee in the Department of Local Government, Water and Volunteers (DLGWV), previously known as the Department of Housing, Local Government, Planning and Public Works, you will play a vital role working with Queensland Local Governments to ensure funded projects are delivered, and also provide training and governance support to those Councils to provide them with a greater understanding of their legislative responsibilities with a focus on improved transparency and integrity.

The Northern Region Team services 37 Local Government Areas across the north of the State.
Key ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain cohesive and functional relationships across Local Government Division.Maintain advanced knowledge and understanding of the local government sector, including legislative framework, in order to build council capability and provide advice to and from the Department on a range of matters (including Council statutory obligations, governance, project management and financial sustainability issues).Work with Councils to ensure grants projects are delivered on time and within the approved scope; and provide accurate and timely reporting into the Department's grants management systems to ensure effective project monitoring.Develop positive and professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and clients across the local government sector.Prepare written material (including outgoing correspondence, briefs and reports) to advise stakeholders and make recommendations on key issues.Demonstrate positive influence as a Senior Advisor by providing direction, mentoring and support to other advisors and promoting continuous improvement processes, cross-agency and cross-council collaboration.Duties may vary from time to time.
