Join the City of Bunbury as our Senior Rating Services Officer and help enhance the financial sustainability of our local government services.
You will play a crucial role in administering, collecting, and recovering council rates, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and council policies, and providing guidance to the Rating Services Team.
What you'll do: Ensure Rating Services practices comply with legislation and regulations.
Develop and conduct strategic rate modelling to enhance revenue potential.
Coordinate the maintenance of the rating database and the issuance of rates notices.
Oversee debt recovery and reconciliation of rates.
Provide end-of-year and end-of-month balancing and processing.
Research and analyse financial data to inform decision-making and provide regular reports.
Assist in identifying risks related to rates assessment and revenue collection.
Communicate rate changes and gather feedback from stakeholders.
Resolve complex rates inquiries and complaints to enhance customer satisfaction.
What you'll bring: Previous rating experience within a medium to large local government organisation.
Working knowledge of the Local Government Act 1995 and Rates & Charges (Rebates and Deferments) Act 1992.
Developed interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong word processing, spreadsheet, numeracy, and literacy skills.
Excellent time management skills.
Developed customer service and public relation skills.
Experience in debt collection actions and procedures.
